    Laser Tattoo Removal

Laser tattoo removal is a light based treatment designed to break down the tattoo particles so the body can reabsorb them, resulting in lightening of the tattoo ink over time. It is important to remember that there is some downtime associated with this treatment. Post treatment the area will appear white or frosted, this tends to disappear within minutes. The area will be red and swollen post treatment, this is completely normal and expected. For most people this may last 24-48 hours but can be expected to last up to 7-10 days. The area will be cooled pre and post treatment. The area will dressed to keep it covered and protected from any irritants. The tattoo ink will begin to fade over subsequent weeks and months and requires multiple sessions for desired results. It is important to notify your clinician if you think you are experiencing any adverse responses immediately.

These are normal and expected responses that may last 24-48 hours, some up to 5-7 days. This may compared to feeling slightly sunburnt, the tightness, flakiness and slight discomfort. It is not uncommon to experience a histamine reaction as well, this is a hive like rash that may be red with some small breakouts or bumps on the skin. This will resolve itself naturally or if possible, you can take an antihistamine to help settle the response quicker.

When treating pigmentation we tend to see changes in the colour of the lesions. It is completely normal for the pigmented lesions to darken after the treatment and they will naturally shed off the skins surface. This may include some crusting of the pigmentation. It is very important to not pick or scratch the area and let it heal on its own. This usually occurs over 5-14 day.
