    Diathermy

Diathermy is a medical technique that involves high frequency electrical currents that produce intense heat that destroys unwanted/unhealthy tissue. Diathermy can treat skin tags, milia, cherry angiomas, seborrheic keratoses, sebaceous hyperplasia and more. The small hand piece delivers the current through a probe the size of an eyelash, making it a very precise treatment with minimal downtime.

    What can diathermy treat?

A range of concerns! Skin tags, benign moles, spider veins, milia, sebaceous hyperplasia, sun spots, sebaceous hyperplasia, cherry angiomas and much more!

Due to the precision of diathermy we can treat lesions all over the body, even over the eyes and lash line.

    Is there downtime?

Very minimal if anything. You may experience mild erythema on the treatment site, some mild scabbing or some lesions will change colour and appear darker while healing.

    Aftercare

Although diathermy is a very precise and minimally invasive treatment there are some things to be aware of to ensure best results. Following your diathermy treatment there may be some localised erythema and slight oedema (swelling) in the area of treatment. This tends to subside within a few hours post treatment.

After the treatment some lesions may appear darker in colour or they may be grey or white in appearance. These tend to turn into small scabs as the tissue dries up and will fall off within 7-10 days. Some lesions like skin tags may be completely removed during your treatment.

    Other things to remember include

    ·       Avoid touching and picking the area

    ·       Avoid sun exposure and use a SPF30 or higher (We recommend O Cosmedics Mineral Pro)

    ·       Cool compress is recommended for discomfort relief

    ·       Avoid friction on the area

    ·       Avoid heat sources eg. hot showers, spas, vigorous exercise etc
